The Western Colorado Suicide Prevention Foundation and St. Mary’s Medical Center will join in organizing an event for people who’ve experienced loss to suicide.
The International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 19 on the fifth floor of St. Mary’s Medical Center, 2635 N. Seventh St. in Grand Junction.

The event will include a screening and then group discussion of “Life Journeys: Reclaiming Life After Loss,” a documentary produced by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Drawing on the stories and insights of long-term loss survivors, the film explores the grief and healing that follows a loss to suicide and shows how survivors can achieve hope and understanding through support and resilience.
St. Mary’s will provide a free lunch. After lunch, small group discussions will being together people who’ve experienced losses to suicide. The event will conclude with a candle lighting memorial ceremony.
