Family fun center to soon open

A new family entertainment center is scheduled to open in Grand Junction in October, offering roller skating, laser tag, bowling and other attractions.

Spin City is set to open at 10 a.m. Oct. 11 at 637 24 1/2 Road in a 48,000 square-foot building previously occupied by GJ Scores.

The newly renovated facility includes a full-size roller skating rink as well as a separate area for young children learning how to skate. Different types of skates will be available to rent or purchase. Morning and afternoon skating lessons also will be offered.

The rink is the only one of its kind between Denver and Salt Lake City.

Spin City also features a 3,000 square-foot, multi-level laser tag arena, six new bowling lanes, an arcade and a restaurant.

The operation is expected to employ a total of 60 people to fill full- and part-time positions.

A sneak preview night planned for Oct. 10 will be open to people who purchase VIP skate passes. The passes offer unlimited access to the rink during skating sessions for four months, two buddy passes and 50 tokens for arcade games.

VIP passes are available online for $99.

An online drawing under way on the Spin City website and Facebook page will award tickets to the sneak preview night.

A teen night scheduled for

6 to 10 p.m. Oct. 18 will include music, door prizes, special glow swag and food.

Spin City will host birthday and corporate parties and other events as well as partner with local organizations in offering other activities. Reservations may be placed online for dates starting on Oct. 15.
