The Family Health West Foundation has scheduled a benefit event featuring the Drifters, a vocal group ranked among the best rock ’n’ roll artists of all time.
The black tie event, titled Rockin’ Elegance, is scheduled for April 30 at the Avalon Theater, 645 Main St. in downtown Grand Junction. The event will begin at 5 p.m. with a social time and silent auction followed by a concert and after-concert dance.
Tickets sell for $100 to $150. Reservations are required. For tickets or more information, call 858-2108 or visit www.fhw.org. Proceeds from the event will go to renovations at the Courtyard Care Center, a hospital-based nursing home in Fruita operated by the Family Health West health care organization.
Rockin’ Elegance follows a benefit event held last year called Country Elegance and replaces the Red Baron Ball.
“We’ve created a different dynamic in fund-raisers, and we’re excited to move forward with this new format,” said Angelina Salazar, vice president of business development for Family Health West.
Formed in 1953, the Drifters recorded such hits as “Under the Boardwalk,” “Stand By Me and “Up On The Roof.” The group has been inducted into the Rock and Roll and Vocal Group halls of fame and has been ranked by Rolling Stone Magazine among the 100 greatest artists of all time.
