Farmers market vendors accept SNAP and Double Up payments

Vendors at the Fairway Independent Mortgage Farmers Market in downtown Grand Junction will accept payment through federal and state food assistance programs.

Vendors will accept SNAP dollars and Double Up Food Bucks at the weekly markets, which start at 5:30 p.m. Thursdays and will run through Sept. 14.

SNAP, an acronym for the Supplemental Nutrition Program, offers federal assistance to low-income families and individuals. Double Up Food Bucks is a statewide incentive program offered through LiveWell Colorado that doubles the value of SNAP benefits up to $20 spent on fresh fruit and vegetables grown in Colorado.

Double Up Bucks are available for free to SNAP recipients and can be picked up along with SNAP vouchers at the Downtown Grand Junction tent set up at Fourth and Main Streets during the Farmers Market. Customers can use their electronic benefits transfer (EBT) cards to receive the vouchers.
