Audio Video Experts in Grand Junction designed and installed the new projection system at the newly renovated Avalon Theater downtown.

The company installed a digital Christie Solara One+ projector with Dolby digial sound. The projector is capable of playing Blu-ray discs as well as movied shipped on hard disk drives. The new equipment replaced a 35-millimeter movie projector that’s now on display in the theater lobby.

The $40,000 project was made possible by a grant from the Denver Film Society that was matched by the Avalon Theater Foundation.

“The Audio Video Experts team had a nostalgic walk through time as they removed the large platters that used to house the 35 mm films. However, that was soon replaced with the excitement of designing and installing a new era of digital entertainment equipment,” said Jeremiah Hines, owner of Audio Video Experts.
