Flooring business relocates to larger quarters

A Grand Junction flooring business has moved to a new and larger location to accommodate its growing operation.

Gallagher’s Flooring is now located in an 11,000 square-foot facility at 1100 Pitkin Ave.

What started out in 2009 as a modest flooring warehouse open only to architects, builders and designers has expanded over the years. The staff has grown from founders Pat and Char Smith to 15 people in addition to 13 installation crews.

At the same time, the need for a retail operation became apparent.

“We were constantly being asked to help people with their projects. The retail public was being left out, and the need for a retail location became evident,” said Pat Smith, who also serves as manager of Gallagher’s Flooring.

The new location fits the bill, Smith said.

“We have wool and patterned carpets displayed on the floor as well as the largest hardwood and tile showroom this side of Denver,” Smith said. “We are displaying products for the Grand Valley that until now you could only see at Denver suppliers’ showrooms.”

The Smiths expect to dedicate 4,000 square feet of their new location to hardwoods, tile and luxury vinyl planking.

What’s not stocked is inexpensive products readily available elsewhere, Smith said. “You can get that at other stores. We want to have products that you are proud to have in your home.”

In addition to flooring, the Smiths also offer blinds and have started a carpet cleaning division to better serve their customers. “This level of service is in line with our original goal to always take care of the customer,” Smith said.
