Franchise operations offer free haircuts and meals to honor veterans

Two franchise operations with locations in the Grand Valley will join in efforts to honor military veterans.

Great Clips will offer free hair cuts to veterans. Golden Corral will offer a free dinner buffet as well as collect collections for Disabled American Veterans.

On Veteran’s Day Nov. 11, Great Clips salons will offer free haircuts to active, inactive or retired members of any military branch, including the National Guard. Veterans also may pick up a card to use for a free haircut any time through Dec. 31.

In addition, customers who purchase a service on Nov. 11 will receive a card good for a free haircut to give to a veteran.

Great Clips operates a total of more than 3,600 salons in the United States and Canada. In 2013, Great Clips provided more than 130,000 free haircuts to veterans as part of its Thank a Veteran promotion.

“Between 5 and 9 p.m. Nov. 17, Golden Corral will offer a free dinner buffet and beverage to anyone who’s served in the military, including the National Guard, as part of an annual event called Military Appreciation Monday.

State and local representatives of Disabled American Veterans will be on hand collecting donations from customers for the group.

Golden Corral operates a total of 500 restaurants in 41 states. Since launching its Military Appreciation Monday program 13 years ago, Golden Corral has served more than 4 million complimentary meals to current and former members of the military. More than $8 million in customer contributions have been collected for state and local DAV chapters.

Golden Corral also is a major sponsor of Camp Corral, offering a free week of summer camp to the children of wounded, disabled or fallen military members.
