Mesa County Libraries now offers a free resource to local employers seeking ways to train their staffs.
UniversalClass is available through the website at www.mesacountylibraries.org and offers online courses that can help sharpen skills, increase knowledge and improve professional expertise.
Business training courses cover such topics as accounting and bookkeeping, customer service, computers and office software, diversity training, office skills and workplace safety.
Businesses can use UniversalClass courses to train employees in specific topics. Those seeking employment can take courses to learn or refresh professional skills.
The courses are available at no charge to anyone with a Mesa County Libraries card. More information is available at 243-4442.
More than 500 courses are available through UniversalClass. Users can take as many as five courses at a time and have six months to complete a course. Courses can be taken online from any computer. Employees seeking to improve their skills can take courses online from their desks.
Courses taken through UniversalClass are designed and led by instructors who are available to answer questions online. Courses are self-paced and available around the clock, so there are no formal class sessions to attend.
Upon successful completion, students receive certificates.
Although college credit is not available for UniversalClass courses, the courses are rated for continuing education units, is a measure of noncredit education.
