Registration is under way through Aug. 16 for two free workshops designed to offer assistance to ranchers faced with drought conditions.
The three-hour workshops are scheduled for Aug. 21 at noon at the Bill Heddles Recreation Center at 531 Palmer St. in Delta and 6 p.m. at the Loma Sale Barn at 1369 12 1/2 Road in Loma. Lunch will be served in Delta, while dinner will be served in Loma.

The Colorado Cattleman’s Association, Colorado State University Extension and Mesa County Cattleman’s and Delta County Livestock associations will present the workshops. The workshops will cover cost-effective supplementation and de-stocking strategies, support in deciding whether to buy hay or sell cattle, disaster assistance programs for drought and wildfires and wildfire preparedness.
