Fruita Chamber presents annual awards

The Fruita Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated its Annual Banquet, “Golden Ticket Gala: A Night at the Candy Factory,” held at the Absolute Prestige Ranch in Loma.

The April 25 event brought together community members, business owners and local leaders to recognize the individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the Fruita area in 2024.

The 2024 award recipients, including what the Fruita Chamber wrote about them, are:

Fruita Business of the Year

Morning Mission Coffee was named the 2024 Fruita Business of the Year. This beloved local business has become a staple in the community, serving not just exceptional coffee, but also fostering a sense of community at every turn. Their generosity and commitment to supporting fellow local businesses and participating in chamber events have made them an integral part of Fruita’s business landscape.

Volunteer of the Year

Courtney Webb, owner of Raven & Wolf Benefits, was honored with the Volunteer of the Year award for her tireless contributions to the chamber. Courtney’s work during the Fruita Fall Festival, where she worked long hours from sunrise to sunset, exemplified her dedication. She has consistently given her time and energy to ensure the success of chamber events, always with a positive attitude and a can-do spirit.

Ambassador of the Year

This year’s Ambassador of the Year award went to Rick Ellis, a dedicated chamber ambassador who consistently goes above and beyond to serve the chamber’s mission. Known for his unwavering support and volunteer spirit, Rick has played a key role in member outreach and fostering strong connections within the business community. As the new publisher of Fruita Living Magazine, he continues to highlight local businesses and share their stories, exemplifying his commitment to the community.

Nonprofit of the Year

Fruita Thrift Shop was given the 2024 Nonprofit of the Year award. This entirely volunteer-run organization has made a profound impact in the Fruita community through its generous contributions to schools, fire stations, hospitals, and other local causes. Their commitment to giving back and making a difference is a testament to the power of volunteerism and community spirit.

Member Business of the Year

VanWinkle Ranch, led by Janie VanWinkle, was recognized as the 2024 Member Business of the Year. Janie’s leadership and advocacy in the agricultural community, including her efforts

to promote sustainability and bring locally raised beef into the school system, have left a lasting impact. VanWinkle Ranch embodies the values of community, tradition and innovation, making it a pillar of the Fruita area.

Lifetime Achievement Award

This year’s Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Suds Brothers Brewery, recognizing its incredible 12-year legacy in Downtown Fruita. Fred and Terri Martinez, along with Jerry and Rochelle Tufley, built a community cornerstone with their restaurant, creating a welcoming space for locals and visitors alike. Their dedication to community causes and their ongoing support of local businesses will never be forgotten
