The Fruita Area Chamber of Commerce has scheduled annual events intended to encourage holiday shopping at small businesses while also offering a festive setting.

Small Business Saturday and a downtown holiday lighting event is set for Nov. 25.

Small Business Saturday is set for 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Businesses will remain open late and offer special deals to holiday shoppers. Artists will set up displays along Aspen Avenue to sell their work.

The downtown holiday lighting event is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. at Circle Park. Santa Claus will be on hand to kick off the downtown lighting display, then stick around for photos. The event also will include hot cocoa and free horse carriage rides.
