Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper joined other state officials in hailing an announcement an outdoor equipment manufacturer will expand its operations in Montrose and add more than 50 jobs in the process.
“Mayfly Outdoors’ continued growth and success is a significant win for Montrose, the state of Colorado and outdoor enthusiasts around the world,” Hickenlooper said. “This innovative outdoor recreation manufacturer contributes to our mission of growing key industries, including tourism and outdoor recreation, to create new jobs.”
Mayfly Outdoors manufactures outdoor recreation products, including Abel Reels, Ross Reels and Charlton Reels.
The Montrose Economic Development Corp., Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade and Economic Development Commission worked to offer Mayfly Outdoors a performance-based incentive of $280,000 to support the expansion and the creation of 56 new jobs that pay 30 percent more than the average annual wage in Montrose County.
Mayfly Outdoors also had considered expansion opportunities in Arizona, Texas and Utah.
“We are excited by the proposal from the State of Colorado, the County of Montrose and the City of Montrose. Each group has been great to work with,” said David Dragoo, president of Mayfly Outdoors.
