Grand Junction accountant receives Enrolled Agent designation

Brandon Warnock

Brandon Warnock, an accountant with Dalby, Wendland & Co. in Grand Junction, has received designation as an Enrolled Agent.

The designation, the highest credential conferred by the Internal Revenue Service, enables Enrolled Agents to represent clients before the IRS without restrictions to which clients they represent, the type of tax matters they handle or which IRS offices before which they represent clients. Enrolled Agents are licensed on a federal level.

To become an Enrolled Agent, individuals must pass a three-part exam covering individuals, business entities, representation practice and procedures. Alternatively, they must complete at least five years of IRS work experience. Enrolled Agents must adhere to ethical standards and complete 72 hours of continuing education courses every three years.

Warnock started at Dalby Wendland as an intern in January 2018 and joined the regional accounting firm full-time in August 2018 after graduating from Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. As a staff accountant, he helps businesses and individuals with income tax preparation. He said he especially enjoys working with clients in the agricultural and real estate sectors because of the complexities of their industries and corresponding tax requirements.
