The Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce has once again earned recognition for its efforts to promote economic development.
The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) presented the chamber a gold-level award as part of the annual Excellence in Economic Development awards program. With more than 5,000 members, the IEDC is the world’s largest organization serving economic development professionals.
“The recipients of the IEDC Excellence in Economic Development awards represent the very best of economic development and exemplify the ingenuity, integrity and leadership that our profession strives for each and every day,” said Tracye McDaniel, chairwoman of the IEDC board of directors.
The IEDC received more than 400 award nominations, which were judged by a panel of economic and community developers. More than 100 award winners were recognized for their efforts. The awards were presented at the IEDC annual conference in Indianapolis.
The Grand Junction chamber won the award in the Innovation in Economic Development Week category for its project promoting awareness of the chamber and
other local organizations as champions for economic development.
The project promoted the work of the chamber, Grand Junction Economic Partnership and Business Incubator Center to attract, grow and retain businesses. The project also highlighted the roles of other partners in those efforts, including Colorado Mesa University, the Grand Junction Regional Airport, Mesa County School District 51 and Mesa County Workforce Center.
