Grand Junction Gastroenterology has opened a clinic to offer comprehensive care to patients with acute and chronic liver diseases.

The Liver Clinic offer services related to the diagnosis and management of such conditions as alcoholic liver disease, autoimmune liver disease, cirrhosis, hepatitis and transplant care.

“We saw a need to establish a liver clinic locally to better serve Grand Junction and the surrounding community. Now patients have the choice to receive their treatment close to home,” said Dr. William Shields, who’s leading the clinic team.

Shields brings more than a decade of experience to his efforts. He works with Kirsten Boland, a physician assistant with two decades of experience in health care.

The Liver Clinic offers FibroScan technology, a noninvasive test for liver stiffness to anticipate complications as well as assess and monitor damage cause by liver diseases.

“Few areas of medicine have seen more advances than hepatology. I’m looking forward to connecting with patients and working with them to best manage their care,” Boland said.

The Liver Clinic is located at 1035 Wellington Ave. For more information or an appointment, call 242-6600.
