Grand Junction man named to parks and wildlife commission

Jim Spehar of Grand Junction is among four appointees to the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission.

Spehar will serve a term expiring July 1, 2019 as a representative of outdoor recreation and the use of park resources.

Spehar is a former Mesa County Commissioner and member of the Grand Junction City Council and mayor. He’s past president of the Colorado Municipal League and also served on the Colorado Economic Development Commission and on the board of directors of the Colorado Water Congress. He owned and operated two Grand Junction radio stations and also worked as a consultant.

The 11-member commission sets policies and regulations for state parks and wildlife programs. For more information, visit
