Grand Junction medical practice earns accreditation for CT procedures

A Grand Junction medical practice has earned accreditation for the quality of its computed tomogaphy (CT) procedures.

Colorado West Otolaryngologists received accreditation from the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Computed Tomography Laboratories. The Grand Junction practice is among the first of 500 CT laboratories in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada to earn accreditation.

An estimated 62 million CT scans are performed in the U.S. each year to diagnose a variety of medical conditions. The accuracy of the procedure relies on the experience and training of technologists and physicians to conduct and interpret exams. To earn accreditation, participating laboratories must document operational and technical components and submit protocols and case studies for review by a panel of experts.

Colorado West Otolaryngologists offers comprehensive care of the ear, nose and throat, including plastic surgery, head and neck cancer care, allergy treatments and hearing and speech testing and treatments.
