Trent Prall has been appointed director of the Grand Junction Public Works Department.
Prall oversees a department with five divisions and a total of 68 permanent and seasonal employees. He succeeds Greg Lanning, who resigned earlier this year.
Prall brings to his latest position nearly 30 years of experience as a registered professional engineer who’s worked in a variety of roles with the City of Grand Junction since 1995. He’s served as interim public works director since August. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering as well as a master’s of business administration degree.
“I am looking forward to the opportunity to expand my role in providing service to this outstanding community,” Prall said. “We have a great group of dedicated individuals in public works who work hard at maintaining our existing infrastructure while planning and constructing improvements to enhance the quality of life for all residents and visitors.”
Grand Junction City Manager Greg Caton said Prall was the best applicant for the job. “He was clearly the superior candidate, and he brings a wealth of experience and passion to the position. We have a lot going on in the public works department right now, and I look forward to many great things in the years ahead.”
