Grand Junction residents named to state boards

Four Grand Junction residents have been appointed to state commissions and boards. Two more residents have been reappointed to their positions.

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis announced the following selections in news releases from his office:

Mesa County Sheriff Matt Lewis was appointed to the Colorado Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice as a representative from a sheriff’s department. The commission analyzes the criminal justice system in the state and reports to the governor, Colorado Legislature and Colorado Supreme Court.

Timothy Hayashi was appointed to the Colorado Board of Licensure for Architects, Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors. Hayashi serves on the board as a professional engineer. The board regulates the practices of architects, engineers and surveyors.

Jeffrey Copeland was appointed to the Passenger Tramway Safety Board. Copeland was appointed to the board as a member familiar with the tramway industry to represent manufacturers and operators. The board sets safety standards for the maintenance and operation of passenger tramways.

Jennifer Shackelford was appointed to the Child Support Commission as an interested party. The commission reviews child support guidelines and recommends changes to the governor and Legislature.

Jay Seaton was reappointed to the Colorado Economic Development Commission. Seaton, publisher of the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel, previously served as chairman of the Grand Junction Economic Partnership. David Dragoo of Montrose also was appointed to the commission by State Sen. Leroy Garcia, president of the Colorado Senate. Dragoo is founder and president of Colorado Outdoors, a riverfront economic development project in Montrose serving the outdoor recreation industry. The commission oversees a range of programs promoting economic development and job growth in the state.

Kathy Hall was reappointed to the Colorado Transportation Commission. Hall, the owner of the Kathy Hall and Associates business consulting firm and a former Mesa County commissioner, represents the Seventh Transportation District on the commission. The commission sets policies for the Colorado Department of Transportation.
