Grand Junction women appointed to CMU and higher education boards

Amy Lentz of Grand Junction is among three people appointed to the Colorado Mesa University Board of Trustees.

Mary Beth Buescher of Grand Junction was appointed to the Colorado Commission on Higher Education.

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis also appointed Daniel Ramos and Kasia Iwanizcko MacLeod to the CMU board for terms expiring Dec. 31, 2022.

Lentz, owner of the Fixture Studio vacation rental and design firm, will serve as a politically unaffiliated member of the 11-member board that oversees CMU. Ramos and Iwanizck MacLeod are both Democrats from Denver.

Lentz and Iwanizcko MacLeod replace Sonia Guiterrez, a Republican from Grand Junction, and Jon Anderson, a Republican from Greenwood Village. Guiterrez and Anderson were appointed in December by then Gov. John Hickenlooper. Ramos also was appointed at that time and reaffirmed by Polis.

Ramos serves as executive director of LGBTQ advocacy group One Colorado. Iwanizcko MacLeod works as a community engagement leader for Cigna.

Buescher was appointed to the higher education commission for a term expiring July 1, 2020. A Democrat, Buescher serves as on the commission as a representative of the Third Congressional District from Western Colorado. Buescher initially was appointed in 2016.
