A Grand Valley business has been selected to supply locally made products to guests at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Grand Junction.
Alida’s Fruits will provide featured amenities offered through the Hilton Honors Program. Alida’s Fruits also will provide syrups and jams in the hotel dining room and to special groups and guests.
“Every night we provide an in-room amenity for our Hilton Honors guests. This year, we wanted to raise the bar and do something extra special,” said Per Nilsson, general manager of the DoubleTree by Hilton. “We decided to give our guests locally made products. It made sense to work with Alida’s. They make great-tasting products, including dried fruit, jams, salsas and syrups that reflect the agriculture of the Grand Valley.”
The hotel also encourages guests to buy locally made products, a philosophy that impresses Bob Helmer, owner of Alida’s Fruits. “They’re developing a comprehensive approach to promote our area and our products.”
Nilsson said he expects a long-term effort. “It’s great PR and a great way to contribute to our community.”
Alida’s Fruits sells fresh fruit and vegetables as well as packaged fruit products and gifts at retail outlets in downtown Grand Junction and East Orchard Mesa near Palisade. The business makes a wide variety of jams, salsas and syrups as well as dried fruits, ice cream toppings and pie filings. The business also operates an orchard and truck farm.
