Grand Valley Magazine — a publication highlighting the people, landscape and lifestyle of Western Colorado — has ceased operations.
Krystyn Hartman, founder and publisher of Grand Valley Magazine, announced the January 2016 issue would be the last.
The decision was in part a financial one, Hartman said. “Basically, we overestimated the advertising market for our magazine product in a prolonged local down economy.”
Refund checks have been mailed to subscribers, she said.
Hartman launched Grand Valley Magazine in October 2008 and published issues through May 2011. She restarted the operation in November 2012 and published issues through January 2015. The 68 issues of the glossy magazine included a total of more than 8,500 pages, she said.
“We’ll miss our thousands of readers, advertising partners, writers, photographers — all who made GV possible month after month, year after year,” Hartman said.
“We live in a community with a lot of untapped potential. It has truly been an amazing journey,” she added.
