Health education center expands training programs

A health education agency serving 13 Northwest Colorado counties has expanded programs offering instruction to nursing students.

The Western Colorado Area Health Education Center in Grand Junction has expanded the capacity of its certified nurse assistant courses from six to 18 students. The center also has added qualified medication administration personnel courses to train people to safely administer medications.

The six-week CNA program runs for six weeks from 5 to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. The next course is set to start May 2.

The next two-day QMAP  course is set for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 7 and 8.

The Mesa County Workforce Center offers scholarships for students who meet financial and assessment testing requirements as well as placement assistance for those who earn certification.
