Herberger’s will offer discounts in exchange for donations to Goodwill as part of a twice-a-year benefit event.
The spring 2018 Goodwill Sale is scheduled to run through March 24 at Bon-Ton stores, including Herberger’s stores. Customers can drop off items for donation at their local department store in exchange for coupons good for up to 30 percent off the purchase of apparel and 15 percent off cosmetics and fragrances. Coupons can be used in stores and online through March 24. Customers who donate $1 in stores or online will receive additional coupons.
The community is encouraged to get involved by donating such items as clothing, accessories, shoes, luggage and household textiles, which will be sold in Goodwill stores to fund jobs, training programs and educational assistance for people who are unemployed or underemployed.
In 2017, Bon-Ton customers donated 2.9 million pounds of clothing and household items. The donations provided for 425,000 hours of job training, skills enrichment and other community services.
“Every donation makes a difference,” said Jim Gibbons, president and chief executive officer of Goodwill Industries. “Goodwill’s founding principle is that work has the power to change lives through dignity and independence. For almost a quarter century, Bon-Ton has been a generous partner in serving and strengthening local communities.”
