Home Loan Insurance distributed a total of nearly $600,000 to almost 600 local employers, the latest workers’ compensation dividends from Pinnacol Assurance.
The board of directors of Pinnacol Assurance declared a general dividend of $50 million, which was shared by more than 53,000 employers throughout Colorado — about 94 percent of workers compensation insurance policyholders with Pinnacol. Individual dividend checks were calculated based on premium size and performance in maintaining safe workplaces. The average 2017 check was $914.
Home Loan Insurance mailed dividend checks and, in some cases, delivered them personally to Western Slope businesses.
“Since our partnership with Pinnacol Assurance started in the 90s, we’ve seen their innovative approach to controlling loss, paying claims and sharing dividends has been instrumental for a successful partnership with our clients,” said Jamie Hamilton, chief executive officer of Home Loan Insurance. “The combined efforts of our clients to maintain safe workplaces, Pinnacol’s resources to keep safety top of mind and our staff’s excellent customer support all lend to this success.”
Pinnacol Assurance has issued dividends nine times since 2005. With the 2017 dividends, the company has returned nearly $556 million to Colorado businesses.
“This dividend is possible because of our policyholders’ commitment to the safety and well-being of their employees, Pinnacol’s financial stability and strength and a vibrant Colorado economy,” said Phil Kain, president and CEO of Pinnacol. “We expect that this will be important support for our state’s employers as they continue to invest in their people, processes and technology, preparing them for success in the years to come.”
