HopeWest based in Grand Junction has launched an internship program for registered nurses interested in providing hospice and palliative care services.
Under the year-long program, recently graduated nurses will partner with experts who will help with their training as well as promote the philosophy and values of hospice and palliative care. Valerie Stone and Linda Bennett have been selected as the first two interns in the program and will work with Scothia Bensen and Vanda Ramsey-Jensen.
“HopeWest has great enthusiasm in providing a new and different opportunity for new graduate RNs to gain experience while continuing their education in a specialty area of nursing,” said Beth Brown, education and clinical mentor at HopeWest. “This program exemplifies the vision and values of HopeWest’s leaders to provide learning and advancement in palliative and end-of-life care both internally and to our community.”
HopeWest offers a range of services to people facing serious illnesses, end of life and grief. For more information, call 241-2212 or visit www.HopeWestCO.org.
