HopeWest continues to rank among the best places to work in the health care industry in the latest list compiled for a national trade publication.

The Grand Junction-based hospice organization ranks 54th among the top 100 best places to work in health care compiled for Modern
Healthcare. HopeWest also ranked 21st among health care providers, the highest of any hospice evaluated in the assessment.

About 75 percent of the assessment is based on the results of anonymous surveys asking employees about everything from pay and benefits to training and development to culture and communication.

“The commitment we have to our mission of helping patients and families across the Western Slope is what drives our dedication to our employees and to creating a great place to work,” said Christy Whitney Borchard, president and chief executive officer of HopeWest. “It’s very inspiring to be associated with other dynamic health care companies across the nation.”

Holly Howell, director of palliative care for HopeWest and an employee of the organizaiton for more than eight years, said she wasn’t surprised by the latest ranking. “HopeWest is an amazing organization, and the people who work here are passionate about the mission. It is so much more than a workplace. You feel like you’re part of the family.”

HopeWest operates an  in-patient hospice center in Grand Junction and also provides hospice, palliative care and grief support services in a region of Western Colorado that includes Mesa as well as Delta, Montrose, Ouray and Rio Blanco counties.
