Local insurance brokers and Connect for Health Colorado have scheduled a free health insurance enrollment event for 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. March 14 at the Mesa County Public Library located at 443 N. Sixth St. in Grand Junction. Appointments aren’t necessary.
“With one marketplace application, individuals can compare coverage options side by side, learn if they can get a discount based on their income and then enroll,” said Nikki Meredith, vice president of Insurance Planning Alternatives in Grand Junction.
The event also will offer information about the expanded Medicaid government health care program in Colorado.
The enrollment event comes about two weeks before a March 31 deadline to enroll in a health care plan or pay a penalty under provisions of the Affordable Care Act for not having coverage.
“It is possible to complete an application for coverage, determine your financial assistance available and complete the enrollment process in a one-hour appointment,” Meredith said.
