Insurance licensing test sites open on West Slope

Seven new testing sites for insurance licensing have opened in rural areas of Colorado, including locations on the Western Slope.

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis praised the opening of the new sites.

“It is critical that our state expands access to ensure there are more resources available to better serve our rural communities,” Polis said. “As my administration works to lower the cost of health insurance, these new testing sites will help communities, families and individuals in rural Colorado by bringing in more insurance agents to sell those health policies along with other types of insurance.”

Steve Giampaolo, director of producer licensing and enforcement for the Colorado Division of Insurance, said the new sites make it easier for more people to take their tests.

“There are now 14 sites around Colorado. And with the new sites in the rural parts of the state, they really cut down on how far people will need to travel,” Giampaolo said.

New testing sites are located at Colorado Mountain College campuses in Edwards, Glenwood Springs, Rifle and Steamboat Springs. New testing sites also are located at the Trinidad State Junior College campus in Alamosa, the Otero Junior College campus in La Junta and Morgan Community College campus in Fort Morgan.

The new sites add to existing locations in Grand Junction as well as Colorado Springs, Durango and Greeley and three sites in the Denver area.

The Colorado Division of Insurance uses Pearson VUE as its producer licensing vendor and contracts with Vertafore to provide electronic application and license management services for Colorado insurance producers.

Pearson VUE also administers the Colorado insurance licensing exam at various military sites in Colorado, the United States and around the world to make it easier for military personnel or their spouses to take the test.
