I know Denmark isn’t buying into the whole idea. But who cares? This isn’t about Denmark. This is about moving the focus in Washington, D.C. to anything other than what the players in Washington, D.C., are focused. The truth be told, if the idea caught the attention of the socialists in Denver, that wouldn’t bother me either.
It’s off the wall to write about this. But as many of you know, there are just some days I don’t know what to write about, much less care to try to write it. But I’m on a deadline and the owner is a real drag if I miss it. Plus, I can use the paycheck. So here goes.
I hate to break it to Democrats and their media partners, but President Donald Trump controls the narrative when it comes to reporting in this country. I mean, one comment about buying Greenland and an hilarious tweet with a Trump Tower Photoshopped into some small village on the island and the Left went apoplectic. The next thing you know, “newspeople” are chasing down Danish and Greenland officials to get a quote (well, anti-Trump talking point) about how bad an idea the president just had.
If you think I’m making this up, go to Google — that bastion of rigged Internet search results. Type in “Trump Greenland” and you’ll open a page to 287 million results that took less than 1 second. You’ll see stories about how Greenland residents don’t want a Trump Tower on their island, breathless quotes from Greenland’s leader on how the island is “not for sale,” the Danish prime minister calling the deal “absurd” and the Danish royal family calling the idea a “compliment.” I’m not sure how that last one got in the news feed, but no one takes royals seriously anymore. Otherwise Harry, William and Charles would be grounded for being serious about their climate change views and Andrew would be in jail squealing like a pig.
But none of that matters. All that matters is someone in the mainstream media heard about something the president said in a cabinet meeting a week or two before and VOILA, the entire world of Washington, D.C. stopped for a day. Let me think, how many countries are there in the world? Let’s talk about buying one of them a day, Mr. President, and we could halt the idiocy of that town for an entire year. Maybe even lower your outrageous spending deficit. Then you could have something to campaign on like the previous White House resident bragging about “cutting the deficit in half” — something only a politician could run on.
But it does go to show one thing: There’s a reason the president tweets. The fact is, he gets his thoughts in the mainstream. While those thoughts might seem insane or racist to some, none of that matters either. What matters is the rabid reaction to ANYTHING he tweets. No matter the truth or facts about the tweet, the Left will turn itself inside out to make our president a racist, an idiot or Hitler with its opposite take on any words that come from the president.
The better news is that these detours allow the president to promote actual policy that has grown the economy, relieved the business sector from burdensome regulations and increased employment. It also helps the president place these overreactions — because who else can the mainstream press garner anti-Trump, the “president is a ‘racist’” and the “president should be impeached” quotes from besides far-left liberals — as the Democrat platform as the 2020 election draws near. With every reaction, the Left boxes itself into an indefensible corner.
Why else do you think the president tweeted about two of the four “Squad” members and their politically motivated “I can’t go to Israel” pack of lies? The fact is, 41 Democrats made a trip to Israel just a week or two back. So there was a trip available they didn’t take and then they made it political in an attempt to get the president. Yet, a few tweets later and we learned about the other trip that was available, that grandmothers don’t matter and these representatives are solidifying their anti-Semitic views and actions. Of course Trump tweeted. It works.
We’re not so lucky here in Colorado when it comes to our “leader” spouting off about his latest ideas. Sadly, everything Gov. Jared Polis says and wants and does is rubber stamped by his devotees in our Legislature. The bigger problem is everything he says and wants and does is detrimental to millions of Coloradans. Yet, the legislative minions implement the policies anyway. The other problem is Gov. Polis has special protection when it comes to tweeting about him. Don’t believe me? Try it and watch the minions attack with the fervor of the trolls who scream “racism” every time the president tweets anything.
So what can we do in Colorado? We do have a recall on the governor in the works. That’s a good start. Did I sign the recall Polis petition? Yes, I did. And I did it for one fundamental reason: You don’t get to force your lifestyle views (I’m talking global warming, steak and my vote here, so just don’t.) on others because you won.
Gov. Polis, to paraphrase the dude from Greenland, my freedom is not on the market.
