Local letter carriers once again will join in a national food drive.
The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is set for May 13 in Mesa County. Letter carriers will deliver food drive bags sponsored by ANB Bank, Delta Dental, Roberts Plumbing & Heating, Rocky Mountain Health Plans and United Way of Mesa County.
Residents are asked to fill bags with such nonperishable foods as canned soups and vegetables, cereals, pasta and rice and place the bags next to their mailbox the morning of May 13. Carriers will collect the bags as they deliver mail.
Donations will be distributed to Agape Food Basket, CCC Food and Clothing, Community Food Bank, Grand Valley Catholic Outreach, Palisade Church of the Nazarene, Potter’s Remnant and Salvation Army.
Last year, carriers collected and distributed more than 80,000 pounds of food.
