A benefit event will feature Grand Valley food and beverages as well as best-selling author J. Ryan Stradal.
The Mesa County Public Library Foundation has scheduled its Table of Content fund-raiser for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. March 4 at the central library, located at Fifth Street and Grand Avenue in Grand Junction.
Admission is $30 for one person and $50 for two. Only 250 tickets are available for purchase online at www.mesacountylibraries.org. Proceeds from the event will benefit library youth services.
Table of Content will feature beverages from Canyon Wind Cellars and Kannah Creek Brewing Co. Appetizers and desserts will be prepared and served by Bin 707 Foodbar, Il Bistro Italiano, No Coast Sushi and Chef Jill Peters of Plants and Bones as well as the baking program at Chez Lena Restaurant at Western Colorado Community College.
Stradal is the author of “Kitchens of the Great Midwest,” an award-winning novel that’s appeared on the New York Times list of best-selling hardcover books. The book offers a coming-of-age story about an orphan with an almost superhuman sense of taste and imaginative palette that allows her to conjure up incredible foods.
“Kitchens of the Great Midwest” is also the selection for the 2016 One Book, One Mesa County program. The program includes a series of book and panel discussions, film showings and other events that will culminate with a free public presentation and book signing by Stradal set for 7 p.m. March 5 at the Avalon Theatre, 645 Main St. in Grand Junction.
