Mesa County Libraries will host a traveling exhibit featuring information about health presented in English and Spanish A series of presentations on health and safety also is planned.
The exhibit — titled Discover Health/Descubre la Salud — is set up at the central library at 443 N. Sixth St. in Grand Junction through Sept. 28.
The library is among 10 locations in Colorado selected to host the exhibit, which includes bilingual informational panels, interactive anatomical models and interactive displays.
The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus developed the health exhibit in collaboration with the Star-Net Library Education Network as well as the Centro Latinamericano para las Arts, Ciena y Educacion.
The Western Colorado Area Health Education Center, Grand Junction Fire Department and local health professionals joined in bringing the exhibits and presentations to Mesa County.
Six health and safety presentations also are scheduled for the central library:
10 a.m. July 25: Bilingual discussion about nutrition.
10 a.m. July 26: How to reduce fall risk and prevent falls.
10:30 a.m. Aug. 9: Training on preparing advance directives, the legal documents outlining a person’s wishes in the event of illness or incapacitation.
1 p.m. Aug. 20: The three main components of exercise and how to incorporate them into a lifestyle.
6:30 p.m. Aug. 23: Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and fire extinguisher training.
5 p.m. Sept. 20: Health care career information night and job fair featuring doctors, medical students and local experts.
