Lions Club fulfills financial pledges

The Grand Junction Lions Club has presented a total of $44,500 to seven organizations, fulling the last of the monetary pledges the club has made this year.

The money includes money from the club as well as the District 51 Foundation.

The latest pledges included $12,000 to the Glade Park Fire Department  for new vehicle bays and water storage, $7,500 to Partners and Mesa Youth Services for landscaping, $6,000 to the Central High School girls basketball team for uniforms and equipment, $5,800 to Scenic Elementary School for books, $5,200 to the Bookcliff Middle School outdoor wilderness lab for camping equipment, $5,000 to Mesa County District 51 Career Services for a new marquee and $3,000 to the Grand Junction High School band for a new trailer.

The Grand Junction Lions Club Community Betterment Committee granted a total of $137,000 to 17 organizations this year, money raised through the annual Lions Club Carnival and Parade.
