Lodging tax stats reflect more stays

A monthly measure of hotel and motel stays in Grand Junction continues to rise, a reflection of increasing business for the hospitality sector.

According to the Grand Junction Visitor & Convention Bureau report for July, $167,188 in lodging taxes were collected.

That’s the highest monthly total so far for 2015 and an 18.3 percent increase over the $141,316 in lodging tax collections reported for the same month in 2014.

The latest gain brings year-to-date lodging tax collections to $707,765. That’s a 7.6 percent increase over the $657,969 collected during the same span in 2014.
