Luxury guest ranch hires new manager

A 23,000-acre luxury guest ranch near DeBeque has hired a new ranch manager.

Bruce Ruggs will oversee ranch operations at Kessler Canyon, including staff, budgets, projects and guest interaction.

Ruggs brings to his new duties 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry. He began working in 1981 at the Keystone Resort, where he opened the Cadillac Restaurant and became general manager of the Inn at Keystone.

Russ subsequently managed Keystone Rafting, Keystone Gulch, Flying Dutchman and Soda Spring, Keystone Lodging Operations and, most recently, the Great Divide Lodge.

Ruggs holds a bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University.

“Ruggs extensive hospitality knowledge and experience in travel for the outdoor enthusiast make him the ideal candidate for our luxurious wildlife retreat,” said Richard Kessler, chairman and chief executive officer of the Kessler Collection of boutique lodging properties.

“With an extremely impressive background in all aspects of the hospitality industry, especially in luxury lodging, Ruggs brings an expertise in management, food and beverage operations, extraordinary guest experiences and a well-rounded hospitality knowledge to Kessler Canyon,” Kessler added.

Kessler Canyon, a member of the Marriott Autograph Collection, offers luxury accommodations as well as such activities as ATV tours, hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking.
