A Mesa County resort ranks among the best in the world in the latest results of an annual awards program based on votes cast by more than 76,000 magazine readers.

Gateway Canyons Resort & Spa has been recognized in the Conde Nast Traveler 2014 Readers Choice Awards as the best resort in Colorado, the third best resort in the United States and 12th best resort in the world.

“My congratulations go out to our dedicated resort management team and staff who have been relentless in their quest to create perfect vacation and retreat experiences for our guests,” said John Hendricks, the founder of the Discovery Channel who also created and owns Gateway Canyons.

“We are delighted that the results of the 2014 Conde Nast Traveler Readers Choice Awards reflect the substantial investments in accommodation and service excellence that we have made over the last two years,”  Hendricks added.

Located near Gateway southwest of Grand Junction, Gateway Canyons offers 72 luxury guest rooms and suites, including 14 nearly completed casitas. The resort also includes a spa and a museum showcasing Hendricks’ collection of automobiles.
