Joe Reed, a real estate agent with RE/MAX 4000 in Grand Junction, has been honored for his service to the March of Dimes.
Reed was named 2014 Volunteer of the Year for the Colorado and Wyoming Chapter of March of Dimes.
Reed joined the Western Slope Division board of directors in 2012 and became chairman of the board in 2013.
Reed secured an event chairman for the 2013 Signature Chefs Auction and helped to increase attendance and revenue for the fund-raising event. He also helped start a benefit mud volleyball tournament and has developed partnerships with local businesses that bring additional revenue to March of Dimes.
In addition, Reed helped to develop and host a town hall meeting for the Western Slope in 2013 and continues to recruit volunteers and board members.
“I can enthusiastically say that without Joe’s vision, his commitment, his leadership and his daily drive towards excellence, we would not be where we are today in the Western Slope,” said Kathryn Marshall, state director of the Colorado and Wyoming Chapter of March of Dimes. “Joe continually pushes the envelope, makes us all work harder to reach our goals and encourages us to think outside of the box.”
A nationwide nonprofit organization, the March of Dimes works to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature births and infant mortality. For more information, visit www.marchofdimes.com/colorado.
