Valley Surgical, Aesthetics & Vein Care has scheduled a free varicose vein screening day.

The event is set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 30 at 2478 Patterson Road, Suite 4, in Grand Junction. Screenings are offered by appointment only. For an appointment or more information, call 773-1946.

“We want to do what we can to help people dealing with these sometimes painful veins. The goal is to treat the vein before it becomes a problem,” said Dr. Brad Case, owner of  Valley Surgical, Aesthetics & Vein Care

Varicose veins are veins that become enlarged or twisted under the surface of the skin. “Any vein may become varicose, but the veins most commonly affected are those in your legs and feet. That’s because standing and walking increases the pressure in the veins of your lower body,” Case said.

In addition to cosmetic concerns, varicose veins also pose  potentially serious problems with blood clots and ulcers, Case said.
