A woman with a broad range of experience in city and state government positions is expected to begin work in July as the new Mesa County administrator.
The county commissioners announced they’ve selected Chantal Unfug as administrator and she’s verbally accepted their offer.
The announcement concludes the second of two job searches for a successor to Jon Peacock, who resigned in July and subsequently was hired as county manager in Pitkin County.
Unfug is expected to assume her new duties in mid-July.
Unfug was among four finalists interviewed for the position by not only the commissioners, but also two panels comprised of county employees, community leaders and people who work closely with the county.
Unfug currently works as deputy manager of parks, planning, design, construction and natural resources for the City and County of Denver Department of Parks and Recreation.
Unfug previously served in several positions with the City and County of Denver as well as the State of Colorado as director of the Colorado Women’s Business Office and deputy director of boards and commissions.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Boston University.
