Mesa County retailers produced nearly $5 million in lottery proceeds during 2014, according to the Colorado Lottery.
That money in turn will be used to fund conservation, opening space, parks, recreation and wildlife projects in the county and across the state.
Mesa County retailers selling lottery products collectively produced more than $4.6 million in proceeds in 2014.
Over the past 31 years, the Colorado lottery has awarded more than $5.5 billion in prizes to players and returned more than $72.8 million to Mesa County alone.
In 2014, the Colorado Lottery returned about 93 cents of every dollar in prizes and proceeds.
Some of the latest examples of lottery funding include the more than $352,000 spent on renovations to Lincoln Park in Grand Junction and the nearly $174,000 spent on upgrades for the Orchard Mesa swimming pool.
