Mesa Mall plans benefit holiday event

Mesa Mall in Grand Junction  has come up with a new holiday celebration that will benefit community organizations.

On Nov. 16, the mall will unveil its Festival of Trees, a display of Christmas trees set up near Cabela’s. Through Dec. 1, the public is invited to not only check out the trees, but bid on their favorites, with the proceeds to go to the organizations that decorated them.

“We are excited to introduce this community project that supports a variety of worthy causes,” said Tamara Capp, director of marketing and business management at Mesa Mall. “This is such a special time of year, and we’re proud to present this holiday effort as part of our commitment to Grand Junction.”

More than 10 non-for-profit groups are expected to participate in the Festival of Trees, including the Children’s Nature Center, Girl Scouts of Colorado, Homeward Bound, Riverside Educational Center and Western Colorado Dance Theater.

Bids on the Christmas trees will be accepted between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays. Those who submit the winning bids will receive the trees, while the money will go to the organizations that decorated the trees.

Located at 2424 U.S. Highway 6 & 50, Mesa Mall offers shopping and dining experiences at a total of more than 100 stores and restaurants, including a variety of market-exclusive retailers. For more information about the Festival of Trees or Mesa Mall, call 242-0009 or visit www.shopmesamall.com.
