A “mompreneur” who’s made it her business to help other women blend family and work priorities is scheduled to speak at an upcoming event in Grand Junction.
Lara Galloway, founder of Mom Biz Coach, will deliver the keynote address at the Aug. 2 meeting of the Mesa County Women’s Network. The meeting is set for 11:30 a.m. at Two Rivers Convention Center, 159 Main St.
The meeting is open to the public, including men. Tickets include lunch and sell for $16 for network members, $25 for others. Reservations are due noon July 28 and can be made through the Web site at www.mcwn.org. In addition to her luncheon presentation, Galloway also will meet with a limited number of network members at breakfast and dinner events.
At the public luncheon presentation, Galloway will discuss what business owners need to know about social media to prosper.
Christy Hovland, the owner of a Fruita marketing firm who serves as president of the Mesa County Women’s Network, said she’s excited about Galloway coming to Grand Junction. “I think it’s a huge deal.”
A work-at-home mother to three children in Michigan, Galloway provides business coaching services to other mom entrepreneurs, helping them to start, operate and market their ventures.
Galloway has developed a large following through social media, especially Twitter, Hovland said. “She is one of the big players on Twitter.” Forbes magazine included Galloway among 30 women entrepreneurs to follow on Twitter.
Hovland, a mompreneur herself with two children, said she met Galloway through Twitter and since has developed a friendship with her.
Galloway will offer important advice in Grand Junction, Hovland said, because of the increasing importance of social media in marketing businesses. “You’re either going to learn it or it’s going to surpass you.”
Hovland said she’s personally recruited three clients through Twitter alone.
