San Juan Construction, a global construction and logistics company headquartered in Montrose, has hired John Theiss as president and chief executive officer.
San Juan Construction specializes in large, government construction projects for the Navy and Air Force in remote locations in the Pacific and Indian oceans. The company operates offices in Colorado and Hawaii as well as the Philippines, Marshall Islands and Diego Garcia and employs a total of more than 100 employees at its various locations.
Theiss brings to his new position more than 25 years of experience in the construction industry, much of which was focused on public infrastructure construction projects and federal government contracts.
Prior to joining San Juan Construction, Theiss worked as a partner at Dorsey & Whitney, where he built a substantial construction industry practice. While at Dorsey, Theiss served as the company’s outside legal counsel for nearly 10 years.
“This is an exciting time for our company for a couple of reasons,” Theiss said. “First, we’ve built a strong business in robust and growing global markets that will see significant investment in infrastructure in the coming years. We established ourselves as one of the dominant players in these markets and are looking to expand our footprint into other remote locations.
“Second, as an employee-owned company, San Juan is driven by the energy and enthusiasm of our entire team, top to bottom, and that’s a beautiful thing. I think I speak for all of my fellow shareholders when I say that I can’t wait to see where we go from here.”
