Monumental ride planned to benefit Partners

A Grand Junction real estate professional plans to bicycle in the Colorado National Monument enough to log more than 29,000 feet in elevation gain as part of a fund-raiser for Mesa County Partners.

Mike Tofel plans to cycle from the west gate to the top of the monument 28 times, a combined gain equivalent to the 29,029-foot elevation of Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world.

Tofel hopes to raise $10,000 to help 75 at-risk youth experience an outdoor educational camp. For more information about supporting the fund-raiser, visit
