Martin Mortuary in Grand Junction has scheduled a two-day event to celebrate the traditions associated with Dia de los Muertos — Day of the Dead.
The celebration is set for noon to 5 p.m. Nov. 1 and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 2 at Martin Mortuary, located at 550 North Ave.
The festivities will include an altar blessing, dove release and folk dancing as well as face painting, artwork for sale, a raffle and silent auction.
Donations will go to HopeWest, a Grand Junction-based organization that offers a variety of services in a six-county area of Western Colorado to people facing serious illnesses, end of life and grief.
Dia de los Muertos focuses on gatherings to remember and pray for friends and family members who have died and help support their spiritual journey.
