Networking group to offer help to people older 50 looking for jobs

A new networking group will offer assistance to people 50 and older searching for jobs.

The group is scheduled to meet at 8:30 a.m. the first and third Tuesdays of the month starting May 2 in room 150 of the Mesa County Workforce Center, 512 29 1/2 Road in Grand Junction.

“On an ongoing basis we have seen the 50-and-over population struggle with being selected for interviews and ultimately obtaining employment with businesses. We know they have a lot to offer, and we want to help them become more successful in their job search endeavors,” said Celina Kirnberger, business services supervisor at the Mesa County Workforce Center.

Meetings will cover such topics as tips and strategies for job seekers over 50, avoiding mistakes in job searches, available resources from the Mesa County Workforce Center and volunteer opportunities.
