Elizabeth Fogarty has been hired as director of Visit Grand Junction and will oversee tourism marketing efforts for the city.
Fogarty succeeds Debbie Kovalik, who’s retiring after working 28 years as the first and only director of the organization. Fogarty is scheduled to start work March 5.
Fogarty previously served as president and chief executive officer of Visit Estes Park, an organization that won the 2016 Governor’s Award for best marketing campaign in Colorado. Fogarty brings to her latest duties experience in business development, consulting and marketing in the travel and hospitality industries. In addition, she’s been active in destination management organizations in Colorado and internationally.
“I am looking forward to having Elizabeth lead the destination marketing efforts,” said Greg Caton, Grand Junction City Manager. “Tourism is a growing part of our economy, and a significant number of jobs are related to the tourism industry. We have phenomenal assets in our region, and we are a wonderful destination. Elizabeth’s energy, leadership capabilities and industry experience are exactly what we need to brand and market the area.”
