Nominees sought for SBA awards

Entries are sought for the 2017 National Small Business Week awards presented by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

The website at www.sba.gov/nsbw>/awards provides forms, criteria and guidelines for submitting a nomination. All nomination packages must be mailed or delivered by hand to an SBA office by 3 p.m. Jan. 10. Email submissions of SBA awards forms will not be accepted because they contain personally identifiable information.

The SBA has recognized the achievements of small businesses and those that assist businesses since 1963. The latest awards will be presented as part of the celebration of National Small Business Week set for April 30 to May 6.

The program will recognize a small business person of the year from each of the 50 states as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Guam..

Awards also will honor an exporter of the year, prime contractor and subcontractor of the year, lender of the year, investment company of the year and a distinguished graduate of the SBA 8(a) program.

Additional awards will honor small business development centers, women’s business centers and veterans business outreach centers. Moreover, awards will recognition contributions to small business disaster recovery.
