Office Furniture & Design Centers will sponsor a dance that will serve as a fund-raiser for Family Health West in Fruita.
The Dirt Dance is set for 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Fruita Civic Center Park. The event will feature the bluegrass music of Stray Grass, food and activities for children. Admission is a donation that’s up to the discretion of the participant.
The Dirt Dance also will serve as a celebration for Fifty Families, a group of families that financially support Family Health West.
Tom Huerkamp and his late wife, Mary Lou, founded Office Furniture & Design Centers 40 years ago in Delta. The business since has contributed more than $1 million to community causes, in particular health care organizations in Western Colorado. Mary Lou Huerkamp was involved in building a hospital in Delta.
“We have always focused on community investment efforts on the medical community,” Tom Huerkamp said. “Because of my wife’s health problems, we became very familiar with the need for good quality care.”
Huerkamp added: “We can’t solve the world’s problems, but we can make a difference in our own backyard.”
Angelina Salazar, director of community relations for Family Health West, said Office Furniture & Design Centers long has supported the organization.
“Office Furniture & Design Centers has donated to our Red Baron Ball that takes place every April for many years. We appreciate their support immensely,” she said.
